CONDENSERS AND DESUPERHEATERS

Vaportec heat exchangers are designed to be mounted horizontally.
Refrigerant enters at the top and exits at the bottom. This helps to prevent refrigerant
oil entrapment and the water from airlocks.
Where practical the Vaportec Desuperheater should be mounted above the condenser.
The Vaportec heat exchangers are normally designed to accept the full flow of the
refrigerant vapour and maintain acceptable pressure drop conditions.
The hot gas lines should not exceed a pressure drop that corresponds to a 2 degree
chage in saturation temperature.
Acceptable oil return in hot gas lines require a minimum velocity of 152mpm in
horizontal runs and 305 to 457mpm in vertical upflow lines. If in doubt an oil separator
should be fitted.
Bypass / isolation valves should be fitted to Desuperheaters as in Fig1, suitable hot
gas refrigerant valves must be used and care must be taken not to overheat when
welding.
Vaportec Desuperheaters designed to accept full flow refrigerant vapour must have an
outlet water balance valve fitted to avoid over condensing.
